HIRING: 0 to 5+ year Landscape Designer/Architect

Coleman & Associates is hiring a range of positions from fresh out of school landscape designers to 5+ year landscape architects to join our team and help keep our projects creative, collaborative, and coordinated. We’re accepting applications through the month of August with a projected early September start date.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Landscape Designer/Architect you’ll be generating project ideas during design kick off sessions, taking the ideas generated during those sessions and synthesizing them into storytelling graphics and idea boards under the supervision of a project manager, and working with your project manager to advance projects through the design process. You will work with others in the office to progress drawings through all phases of the design process to ensure design intent is continuous throughout the life of the project. You can expect to work on projects during all phases of design: city permitting, schematic design, image boards, rendering both in plan and 3D, as well as contract documents such as design development and construction documents. We encourage our landscape designers to ask questions and involve themselves in this process, including construction observation and field verification.

Here are some real examples of the work we’ve done lately that might help you to get a better idea of what types of projects you’ll be working on:

  • City of Austin’s Central Library

  • TXDoT Headquarters

  • Austin Energy Headquarters

  • Texas Capitol Mall Renovation Package 5 & 6

  • Texas A&M University Engineering Quad Renovation

  • Texas A&M University Zachry Engineering Building

  • Texas A&M University Master Plan

  • Texas Rangers Stadium

  • Garza Rach (office, hotel, multi-family)

  • UT Austin DKR Memorial Stadium South Endzone Expansion

  • Austin ISD, Elementary, Middle and High School bond projects

  • Veramendi Master Planned Community

  • 405 Colorado

  • Mueller Office / Parking Garage

  • Round Rock Public Library

This is a snapshot of our experience in creating beautiful, lasting landscapes throughout Texas. Your experience and background will join ours! We have worlds to learn and we’re eager to do it together. You can expect to teach us, coach us, and expect the same in return.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for a candidate who’s ready for a similar breadth and depth of work, but nobody hits the ground running. We know you’re starting your career as a Landscape Architect and want to help you grow! You won’t be able to answer every question immediately or know how all the systems work on day one, and we don’t expect you to. Solid fundamentals with AutoCAD, LandFX, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft are a great foundation to which we can build from.

In broad strokes, Managers of One thrive at Coleman & Associates. We’re committed generalists, eager learners, conscientious workers, and curators of timeless outdoor spaces. We’re quick to trust. We see things through. We’re kind to each other, look up to each other, and support each other. We reach for responsibility and hold ourselves accountable. We show up for the work and for each other.

We value people who can take a stand yet commit even when they disagree. And understand the value in others being heard. We subject ideas to rigorous consideration and challenge each other, but all remember that we’re here for the same purpose: to do good work together. Charging the trust battery is part of the work. That comes with direct feedback, openness to each other’s experience, and willingness to show up for each other as well as for the creative and technical work at hand. We’re in this for the long term.

We want strong, diverse teams built from different backgrounds, experiences, and identities. We’re ready for the ongoing work that goes into building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best work of your career. Our workplace and our benefits are designed to support a sustainable, healthy relationship with your work.

You can expect a mindful onboarding process with ramp-up and time to learn. You can expect a team that listens, and to be heard. You can expect to give and provide direct feedback. You can expect to be counted on. You can expect to do your best work and build a career here. We care about what you can do and how you do it, not about how you got here. A strong track record of conscientious, thoughtful work speaks volumes.

PAY AND BENEFITS

Benefits at Coleman & Associates are all about helping you lead a healthy life outside of work. We work from home each Friday, enjoy paid vacation, and take the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. We subsidize continuing education and any community organizations that you may want to be involved in. We pride ourselves in being embedded in the communities where we work be it through ASLA, ULI or other allied organizations. For a full list of benefits just ask, we’re happy to chat with you about it!

HOW TO APPLY

Please send an application that speaks directly to this position; this should include a resume, cover letter, and portfolio of your work. Show us your role in Coleman & Associates’ future and Coleman & Associates role in yours. Address some of the work we do. Introduce yourself as a colleague!

Send in your application to marissa@colemanandassoc.com and liz@colemanandassoc.com. There’s no benefit to filing early or writing a novel. Keep it sharp, short, and get across what matters to you.

No phone calls please.
